The Health Benefits of Wintergreen Oil
History tells us that American Indians reportedly used wintergreen plant or herb for treating rheumatism, back pain, fever, sore throats and headache. Wintergreen is a group of aromatic plants and produces gaultheria oil. This oil is a pale yellow or pinkish fluid liquid that is strongly aromatic with a sweet woody odour. The plant and its oil have been used in traditional medicine as an anodyne, analgesic, carminative, topical rubefacient and astringent. This oil can also be used for Yoga.
Wintergreen oil is obtained by steam distillation of the warmed, water-macerated leaves. It is used interchangeably with sweet birch oil or methyl salicylate for flavouring foods, candies toothpaste and gum. The leaves and oil are used to make medicine.

Heather –
I use this wintergreen oil in the sauna as it has a fantastic smell. It has a spicy and strong aroma which I find to be quite invigorating. It’s one of my favourites and I use it alongside lavender, eucalyptus and olbas oil. Quick delivery and a good price.
