Our Dill Seed Essential Oil is sourced from India. It is extracted by steam distillation from the  crushed seeds of the dill plant. The plant itself is a herb with green feathery leaves and small yellow flowers.

Since ancient times, Dill has been used remedies to ease child birth. In the Middle Ages it was even seen as a charm against witchcraft. In more recent times, it has become popular as a herb for cooking with.

The name of the plant comes from the word “dylle” which means to “soothe or lull” and the he plant has long been appreciated for its therapeutic benefits.

In modern aromatherapy, Dill Seed Essential Oil has stimulating, revitalising, restoring, purifying, balancing and cleansing properties. It can help concentrate the mind in times of stress. It is also useful in aiding digestive problems in adults, helping to ease flatulence, constipation and hiccups. It can help to soothe an upset tummy and improve appetite. Dill Seed oil also helps to promote the healing of wounds on the skin.

Gripe water is often made from the fresh herb, but the essential oil should not be used for this purpose as it is far too strong.
