Any Formula One or MotoGP fan will tell you that being by the side of the track is loud, really loud. Certainly, the deafening noise of motor sport is truly exhilarating and all part of the fun. The roar of the engines sounds fantastic and gives you goose pimples. However, the deafening noise can also be so loud as to damage your ears. It only takes one exposure to cause permanent damage. As well as impaired hearing, you might also experience pain, hypersensitivity and tinnitus. All this can be avoided, or course, if you take sensible precautions and wearing earplugs.
