What exactly does this test do?
This listing is for the Professional Doctor/GP single parameter urinalysis reagent test strip solely for Glucose. They are intended solely for use by medical professionals who will know how to correctly interpret the results. They are packed in the standard sealed tube as shown above and each tube contains 100 strip tests. The tests will have at least 6 months to expiry.
What results will I get?
These strips are meant for medical professionals and they will fully understand the purpose of this test and how to interpret the result as these strips are standard urinalysis Glucose strip tests usually used by those persons suffering from diabetes. Effectively any abnormal result for Glucose will require further investigation unless the likely cause of the positive result is already known.
These strips are usually used by visual colour comparison for any abnormal result but can also be used with almost all standard automatic reader/urinalysis equipment.
Professional Reagent Area Information
This test is specific for glucose; no substance excreted in the urine other than glucose is known to give a positive result. In diluted urine containing less than 0.3mmol/L ascorbic acid, as little as 2.2mmol/L of glucose, may produce a colour change that might be interpreted as positive. If the colour appears somewhat mottled at the highest gluose concentrations, match the darkest colour to the colour blocks. Ascorbic acid concentrations of 3mmol/L or greater and/or high ketone concentrations (4mmol/L) may give false negatives for specimens containing small amounts of glucose (4-7mmol/L). The reactivity of the glucose test decreases as the SG of the urine increases. The reactivity may also vary with temperature. Small amounts of glucose are normally excreted by the kidney. These amounts are usually below the sensitivity of this test, but on occasion may produce a colour between the “Negative” and the 6mmol/L colour blocks, and that is interpreted by the instrument as positive.
