Petitgrain Essential Oil (Citrus aurantium) 10ml

Petitgrain essential oil originates from Italy and is obtained from the leaves and the twigs of the bitter orange tree by steam distillation.

Also known as orange leaf, Petitgrain essential oil has a sweet, fresh, and moderately woody scent. Petitgrain is acquired from the leaves of a 10m high bitter orange tree, which also produces Neroli from the flowers it grows. In fact, Petitgrain essential oil has the same characteristics as Neroli. Both ingredients are recognised for their calming influence during moments of stress. Petitgrain in particular is also used as an additive in various skincare products.

How to use Petitgrain Essential Oil

• Baths: 4-8 drops of oil should be blended in a teaspoon of carrier oil and added to the bath
• Massages: 2-4 drops of essential oils should be added to to 1 tablespoonful of carrier oil
• Vaporisation: 3-5 drops of essential oil should be added to a burner, aroma stone or aroma stream

Petitgrain oil used to be extracted from green unripe oranges that fell from the bitter orange tree, when they were as small as cherries. That is where the name Petitgrain originates, and some still refer to them as ‘little grains’. Petitgrain oil is mostly used as an ingredient in perfumes, cologne and medicine.
