Chronic skin conditions eczema and psoriasis can benefit from the healing properties of pine tar products. They can also help as a natural way to relieve skin discomfort from dermatophyte infections.
Rashes and Allergies
Pine Tar Soap can help relieve symptoms of contact dermatitis or skin allergic reactions. By washing the affected area with soap, the itch can be stopped, once the skin has been dried. The healing process can then begin.
Pine tar soap is even used by vets to treat mange skin disorders on animals.
Dandruff
Many shampoo brands include pine tar in their shampoos as it can help to prevent seborrheic dermatitis, a scalp condition that causes dandruff.
Insect Repellent
Before World War Two, pine tar was the insect repellent of choice. By using pine tar soap daily, skin was kept healthy and soothed. It also help to provide protection against mosquito, ticks and bites from other insects.
