These super sensitive pH test strips from Zoom Health are designed for testing over a wide pH range (pH 4.5 – pH 9.0). They are perfect for testing your pH daily to improve alkalinity. They are easy to use, giving fast results.
How To Use
These pH test strips provide a simple and effective home health test:
To Test Urine: Test the first and second urine of the day and record the average reading. To test, briefly place the pH strip in the urine stream; shake excess fluid and wait 15 seconds to read your pH result.
To Test Saliva: Wait two hours after eating and do not drink anything for at least 15 minutes prior to testing. Spit saliva into a spoon; dip the pH strip into the fluid and wait 15 seconds to read your pH result.
What is pH?
pH is the abbreviation for potential hydrogen. The pH of any solution is the measure of its hydrogen-ion concentration. The higher the pH reading, the more alkaline and oxygen rich the fluid is. The lower the pH reading, the more acidic and oxygen deprived the fluid is. The pH range is from 0 to 14, with 7.0 being neutral. Anything above 7.0 is alkaline, anything below 7.0 is considered acidic.
Human blood stays in very narrow pH range right around 7.35-7.45. Being consistently outside this range can lead to chronic disease. The pH in the human digestive tract varies greatly.
The pH of saliva is usually between 6.5-7.5. After we chew and swallow food it then enters the fundic or upper portion of the stomach which has a pH between 4.0-6.5. This is where “pre-digestion“ occurs while the lower portion of the stomach is secreting hydrochloric acid (HCI) and pepsin until it reaches a pH between 1.5-4.0. After the food mixes with these juices it then enters the duodenum (small intestine) where pH changes to 7.0-8.5. This is where 90% of the absorption of nutrients is taken in by the body while the waste products are passed out through the colon (pH 4.0-7.0).
Why does Alkalinity matter?
Good health starts with keeping the body in balance. Studies show that being slightly alkaline (between 7.3 and 8) is important for good health. Being in this range is associated with better energy, digestion, healthy weight, more efficient thought processes. It can also help to reduce aches and pains and improved overall health.
As the body grows more acidic, it creates an environment friendly to harmful bacteria and is associated with a variety of health conditions. This includes cardiovascular disease, chronic fatigue, obesity, joint pain, lowered immune function, premature aging, and so much more. The typical Western diet is a primary cause of acidic conditions. This is because such a diet can contain excess sugar, processed foods, antibiotic and hormone laden animal products. it can also be lacking in fresh vegetables and fruits, Being aware of your pH levels can help you to more easily follow a healthy balanced diet and have a healthier lifestyle as a result.
Research shows that unless the body’s pH level is slightly alkaline, the body cannot heal itself. So, no matter what type of modality you choose to use to take care of your health problem, it won’t be as effective until the pH level is up. If your body’s pH is not balanced, you cannot effectively assimilate vitamins, minerals and food supplements. Your body’s pH affects everything.
Other advantages of Alkalinity
Improved physical health isn’t the only benefit you can achieve by becoming more alkaline, you can also improve your emotional and psychological well-being. Research shows that people who are more alkaline feel more emotionally balanced and experience higher levels of joy and serenity. Those who are more acidic experience more stress, anger, fear, and fatigue.
If you are too acidic, consider the help and advice of a health professional.
Why should I worry about my pH balance?
Proper pH balance is vital to your ability to absorb and use vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients from the food you eat and any supplements you take. By keeping your pH in an alkaline state, you will improve your health and get the most from your nutrition regimen.
How often do I need to check my pH?
Testing your pH each day will allow you to closely monitor your levels and let you know if you’re becoming acidic. Our pH test strips offer an easy way to check your pH in the comfort of your own home.
You can use these strips with either urine or saliva, but saliva has shown to be more accurate.
