Our Thyme Essential Oil is obtained by steam distillation of the flowering plant. The evergreen plant can grow up to 45cm in height. It has grey leaves and purple or white flowers. Nowadays, most commercially cultivated Thyme comes from Spain and the Mediterranean. The oil has a pale clear to golden amber colour and a sweet herbaceous-like aroma.
The name can be traced back to the Greek word ‘thymos’ which means ‘perfume’ and in Greek temples it was used as incense. The Egyptians used thyme in their embalming processes.

Usage:
- Baths: 4-8 drops of oil should be blended in a teaspoon of carrier oil and added to the bath
- Massages: 2-4 drops of essential oils should be added to to 1 tablespoonful of carrier oil
- Vaporisation: 3-5 drops of essential oil should be added to a burner, aroma stone or aroma stream
